A folkloric masked character, boasting roots from a wide spectrum of cultures, the eccentric jester-like "Vejilante" is often characterized during Carnival and other celebrations, engaging in mischevious and entertaining antics alike. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre adopted the moniker to unite the region's growing Latino population.
El vejigante es un personaje enmascarado colorido y folclórico que mezcla varias culturas. Parecido a un bufón excéntrico, el vegijante es represetado en carnavales y otras celebraciones en donde interactúa con el público haciendo travesuras. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre decidió elegir esta identidad para unir a la población Latino de la región.
